Celebrating Results at Richmond upon Thames College

Thursday 16 August 2018

On Thursday 16 August, Richmond upon Thames College was pleased to report its A Level results for 2018. This year, there were 352 entries (the highest number in the borough of Richmond) across 30 subjects and these results represent achievement on a grand scale.

The overall A Level pass rate was 94% with 63% of students gaining A*-C grades. 16 A Level subjects achieved 100% pass rates.

Students who previously attended Richmond borough schools achieved an impressive overall pass rate of over 97% with 69% of students gaining A*-C grades.

The college expects around 350 students will be going on to university, including many Russell group universities.

Student, Andreea Tatu from Whitton, joined Richmond upon Thames College three years ago after arriving in the UK from Romania. She achieved grade A in Sociology, grade A in Business and grade B in Maths and has secured her place at the University of Birmingham to study International Business. She says, “RuTC is more than just a college – it became my ‘second home’ where I spent three years developing and learning new skills. I would love to say thank you to every single member of staff who supported and encouraged me throughout my GCSE and A Level courses. I am delighted with my results and cannot wait to go to university.”

Principal, Robin Ghurbhurun, commented, “As one of the largest providers of A Level programmes in London our 2018 results continue to place us as one of the top performing colleges. It is a credit to students, their families and staff that consistently good standards are achieved across our A level programmes. Also, I am delighted that our professional vocational programmes have recorded continued improvements on the previous year, placing Richmond upon Thames College as a destination of choice for both academic and technical qualifications in west London. I wish our departing students all the very best in achieving their ambitions as they head off to university or employment. We now look forward to building successful futures for our new students enrolling with us this September.”
