In July, staff from Richmond upon Thames College attended the annual UAL Origins Creatives Exhibition at London's Mall Galleries to celebrate the success of Level 3 Art student, Tyra D'Souza, whose ceramic artwork was selected for display.
'Generations Apart'
Chosen from over 600 entries, Tyra's piece, 'Generations Apart', was exhibited alongside some of the highest-quality student work from across the country. Created in the College's ceramics studio, the piece reflects on her grandmother's wisdom, resilience and optimism, while encouraging viewers to think about the future of our world.
Tyra dedicated many hours to developing the artwork throughout the year, with support from Ceramics Technician Zoe Halliday and teachers Kirsty Chau, Julia Hembrow and Alice Swinhoe.
Explaining the inspiration behind her work, Tyra said:
"It's my grandma's wisdom, protectiveness and loving nature that make her our angel and allow us to dream. I'll leave you with a little question to ponder on: what type of world did your dream take place in when you were a kid?"
