This 'How To' guide is to help you apply for a 16+ Zip Oyster Photocard. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian will need to apply on your behalf.
Once you're ready, head to the TFL website to apply for the 16+ Zip Oyster Photocard.
If you're over 18, you can also apply for discounted travel with an 18+ Student Oyster photocard.
How To: Apply for a 16+ Oyster Card
Who can apply?
- Those aged 16 - 17, or
Aged 18 on 31 August, living in a London borough and in full-time education.
Where to apply?
- Apply on the TFL website
- Click 'apply online' and follow the instructions.
What do you need?
- A photo of your child
- Details from your child's passport
- A photo of the details page from the passport
- A card to pay £22 admin fee.
No passport? Start your application online and complete it at the Post Office.
Applying for Bursary?
If you're applying for bursary and purchase a new 16+ Oyster Card you can apply for a refund of the £22 admin fee. Provide a screenshot confirming proof of purchase.
