2 male foundation learning students with flower garlands round their necks, standing opposite each other, showing the plants they have grown

Students from our Foundation Learning department enjoyed getting their hands dirty during the summer term, reaping the rewards of their gardening efforts as they nurtured a variety of plants, fruits and vegetables in the College garden.

  • The learners worked together to prepare planting beds, sow seeds, care for growing plants and harvest their produce.

  • The project provided valuable opportunities for students to develop practical skills while spending time outdoors in a supportive and collaborative environment.

  • The College garden is currently thriving with a range of vegetables and plants, giving students the chance to learn about sustainability, healthy eating and the life cycle of plants through hands-on experience.

  • To celebrate the success of the project, the Foundation Learning department threw an event at the end of the year to show off their work and have the chance to sell some of their produce, including beautiful sunflowers.
