Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) proudly celebrated the achievements, dedication and talent of its students at the annual Student Awards Evening on Wednesday 1 July 2026, bringing together students, families, staff and special guests for an inspiring occasion.

Student Awards 2026 Winners

Hosted by Principal Gavin Hughes, the event recognised outstanding student accomplishments from across the College, with 23 awards presented across all subject areas.

The celebration was attended by the Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Nancy Baldwin, and the Leader of Richmond upon Thames Council, Councillor Gareth Roberts, who joined the College in recognising the achievements of this year's award winners.

Guests were also inspired by a keynote speech from young Entrepreneur and Activist, Joana Baptista, who shared her experiences and offered words of encouragement to students as they prepare for the next stage of their education, training and careers.

One of the evening's most prestigious accolades, Student of the Year, was awarded to Dance student, Jemima Baker, who was recognised for her exceptional achievements, making her a deserving recipient of the College's highest honour.

Jemima is now heading off to Urdang City St George’s, University of London to continue pursuing her passion of dance.

She commented:

“I feel really proud; this is a big achievement for me! It shows how much my teachers and the staff at the College believe in me and are there to support students. Studying at RuTC have helped me secure a place at my dream university, Urdang at City St George’s. I am now excited to see where a career in the performing arts will take me.”

 Student Awards 2026 Charlie

The Greatest Contribution to College Life award was presented to Charlie Quelch, in recognition of the significant impact he has made within the College community. 

The achievements of academic students were also celebrated during the evening, with A-Level student, Emilia Trocin collecting an award before progressing to Cardiff University to study Architecture in September.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a variety of student performances, including dance, music and spoken word, showcasing the exceptional talent and creativity.
