Catering students help Hampton Hill's little chefsMonday 18 March 2013
Richmond upon Thames College teamed up with Hampton Hill Junior School between 5-14 March, as students Helen Gale and Luis Mulraine assisted with an innovative restaurant project involving over 90 pupils.
The entire Year 4 group at the junior school were challenged with the task of setting up and running their own restaurant for two weeks – catering to parents, staff and the local community. They were involved in all parts of the initiative, from buying the food, publicising the event, cooking, serving and budgeting.

On Wednesday 16 January, Hix Restaurants chefs Kevin Gratton and Ronnie Murray hosted a mouth-watering dinner at Richmond upon Thames College's Merits Restaurant. Assisted by the college's Level 2 VRQ catering students, Kevin - Group Head Chef at Hix and Ronnie - Group Head Pastry Chef, prepared a three course feast of fillet of tub gurnard with Isle of Barra cockles and sea radish, rump of red deer with beetroot sauce and chocolate cake with sea buck-thorn sorbet.

On Friday 26 September, the college's Training Solutions team raised a fantastic £428 for Macmillan cancer support with a delicious cake and coffee morning. Staff members across the college supported the worthy cause with generous donations for the tasty treats which included chocolate brownies, shortbread and muffins.

On August 4, Robin Ghurbhurun joined Richmond upon Thames College as CEO and Principal. Robin gained a degree in Applied Science (Chemistry) at Kingston University and a Masters in Information Systems and Technology at City University. He started his career in the further education sector in 1994 as a lecturer in computing at Weald College (now Harrow College).

Four students have been given the opportunity to be part of Rugby World Cup 2015. Working with the Dallaglio Foundation, England Rugby 2015 have created a school leaver programme which has given young people their first experience of a working environment as part of the organising committee.
