“With 1483 entries across 37 subjects these results represent achievement on a grand scale. We expect that around 700 students will be going on to university, one of the biggest cohorts from any single institution in the country, including Oxford, other Russell group universities and various medical schools.”
The overall pass rate was 95% with 62% of students gaining A*-C grades. 10 subjects examined achieved a 100% pass rate and former students from Richmond borough secondary schools achieved 100% pass rates in 26 of their subjects.
The results for those students who came to the college with at least five GCSEs at grades A* - C with an average of B or better were impressive, with a pass rate of 99%, an A*-B pass rate of 58% and an A*/A pass rate of 28%, above the national average of 26%.
Other results already confirmed included those from the International Baccalaureate Diploma, where students achieved an outstanding 86% pass rate, well ahead of the global pass rate of 79%. There was also a continued improvement in technical and professional courses for 16-18 year olds, with a forecast increase of 3% across the programmes.
Principal, Robin Ghurbhurun, commented, “In my first year at the college I am pleased that we have maintained our A level performance, however I recognise that there is still room for improvement. We will continue with our relentless focus on achieving high performance results consistently across the board whilst driving aspiration and ambition for all our students.”
We caught up with a few of our fantastic students to see how they'd got on...
