Georgia Petrou, 16 from Sunbury Manor School, was one of the many visitors who took part in the have-a-go event. "It was great fun learning how to pipe the icing and I was really pleased with the result as it looked and tasted delicious! My mum also bought some cupcakes as they were so tasty plus it was nice to donate money to charity too."
Colleges Week, which ran from 11-18 November, is a national initiative that seeks to raise awareness of the vital role Colleges play in improving people's chances of getting into work and helping businesses to grow. Working to a central theme of employability and work-readiness, activities were held up and down the country to encourage people to 'get into College' and find out what it can do for them.
The catering department at RuTC is home to Merits, a fully working training restaurant where students are taught by experienced professionals to become the chefs and food service staff of the future. Helping at the Colleges Week event were RuTC students Marion Kamau Njoki, Rosie Buckle, Ben Harris, Laura Bamford and Scott Tuckwell.
