The ceremony, hosted by Lord Tope, took place at the House of Lords in May and was organised by the Committee of South London Principals (COSLP), which represents colleges in the boroughs of Croydon, Kingston, Bromley, Richmond, Sutton and Merton.
Ahmed, who is now 20, joined the College in September 2010, enrolling on an entry-level supported learning course. He completed his Progression OCNLR entry level 3 certificate in 2014 and is now planning to pursue a career in motor mechanics.
Ahmed was nominated for the Best Learner award by his personal tutor at the College, Katy Parnell, who was full of praise for his efforts.
"Ahmed has consistently been the hardest worker in his class where his positive attitude always helps to motivate and inspire others," she said. "He has taken advantage of every opportunity offered to him, has excelled in his work experience places and thoroughly deserves this award.
