On Friday 7 February, Travel & Tourism Level 3 students invited students and staff to their Destination Show, where they took visitors on a journey around the world.
The event was part of their Conference and Events course unit and they were in charge of the planning process, marketing and production. The students focused on a number of countries including Australia, Brazil, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico and Thailand and promoted fun facts about each country, examples of their languages and geographical information.
In addition, the show offered visitors food from around the world, prepared by Catering Level 1 and Supported Learning students. Dishes ranged from sweet Brazilian brigadeiro and Australian pavlova to savoury Greek spanakopita, Indian samosa and Mexican taco salad.
Hannah Talabany, Travel and Tourism teacher at RuTC, said, “All students did an amazing job organising and hosting this event. The display stands gave visitors a great insight into the individual countries and students represented cultural aspects authentically. The dishes Catering students prepared were such a great aspect of the show and we are looking forward to working with them at future events.”
