Proud RuTC students start university

We are proud of all students who finished their course in the academic year 2018-2019. 66% of eligible students are continuing their higher education at university. This includes 37 students who gained places at 14 different Russell Group universities.

The top ten universities RuTC’s students chose for their studies are Brunel University, University of Westminster, Kingston University, Coventry University, University of Roehampton, Middlesex University, St Mary’s University, King’s College London, Royal Holloway University and University of Kent.

a level rufus irvine webRufus Irvine, former vice president of RuTC’s Students’ Union, achieved the grades AAA* in his A Levels in English Language, Politics and Sociology and will be studying English Language and Linguistics at the University of Kent on an Academic Excellence Scholarship. He commented, “I would attribute much of my success to the incredible teaching staff who pushed me to my fullest, but also offered unconditional support.”

the grades AAB in her A Levels in English Language and Literature, History and Photography and will be studying English and History at Royal Holloway University. She said, “When I received my great A Level results, I was amazed at how successful I was. These results mean that I can go to my first choice of university and also believe in myself more. The support of all of the academic and pastoral staff within Richmond upon Thames College really helped me to push myself to achieve my potential.”

vocational ian canlas art and designIan Canlas, who previously won a Best Learner Award, achieved a distinction in his Art & Design Level 3 Extended Diploma UAL course and will study Architecture at the University of Kent with a £2000 scholarship. He said, “The distinction grade reflects my hard work, good practice and consistency in a subject I am passionate about. Richmond upon Thames College helped me from my first year to my last year, the teachers supported me to do what I wanted to do and pushed me by inspiring and giving me a lot of ideas.”

Sharna Davison got the outstanding grades D*D*D*vocational sharna davison sport in Sport & Exercise Science Level 3 Extended Diploma BTEC. She is going to study Sports Coaching Science at St Mary’s University and commented, “Throughout my Sport course I could always monitor my grades which motivated me to stay on track and push myself further. Richmond upon Thames College’s staff were very supportive; I could always ask for help and guidance and they consistently pushed me to achieve my very best.”
