After a really positive response from the Principal, the UAL Level 2 Art and Design group was given the go-ahead to paint a mural on the walls of the link corridor from the Art department towards the refectory.
The students went on a research trip to London to visit the White Cube and Victoria Miro galleries as well as Tate Modern. We looked at the London skyline and used drawing to distort it into abstract and colourful patterns. The live mural brief fitted perfectly into Unit 5 in which students have to solve a creative problem. The circular theme echoed the work of one the artists we looked at in London (Minjung Kim) and gave each student a unique section to work on.

The mural has brightened up the corridor massively. When these buildings are knocked down to make way for the new college, sections of the mural will be kept as a record of the old building; just like the Berlin wall!
