A Level students visit Parliament

Wednesday 20 November 2019

On Friday 25 October, Politics, Public Services and History A Level students took a trip to Central London to visit Parliament.

During their visit, students had the opportunity to visit both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, enhancing their knowledge on the function of both Houses as well as the history of Parliament.

Students explored different electoral systems used in the UK and analysed the ways in which they provided different outcomes in terms of proportionality and representation. Our students participated in a workshop on voting and representation and had the chance to meet with a member of the House of Lords for a question and answer session.

With the upcoming General Election and Brexit on the horizon, this trip has enhanced their understanding of the current political landscape, which is not only beneficial for their studies, but for their personal understanding too.
