Jeniequa makes TeenStar Grand Finals

Thursday 20 June 2013

Richmond upon Thames College performing arts student, Jeniequa Quamina, has reached the grand finals of a national talent competition. The seventeen year old songstress, also known as 'Jenkelie', will be appearing in the late teens category of TeenStar, a nationwide search for the UK's best singers, songwriters and vocalists.

Jeniequa, who came to Richmond College from the Barbara Speake stage school, began her TeenStar journey in February, taking part in auditions alongside thousands of other unsigned singers from across the UK. After impressing the judging panel, she went on to successfully battle in two live music showcases, qualifying from both the regional and area final heats at the Beck Theatre in Hayes. She will now be performing at the national final on Sunday 7 July at indigO2 in London.

"I honestly never dreamt I was going to get through so when I heard my name I was in shock!" Jeniequa said. "It's been a long journey since the first audition but the fact I now get to perform at the O2 has made it all worth it. I can't wait to sing there!"

Jeniequa wowed the area final judges with a mashup of songs by a variety of artists including Biggie Smalls, Justin Timberlake, Birdy and Ed Sheeran. Her group of backing dancers during her successful performance included Richmond upon Thames College BTEC media student, Cameron Eversley.
