Adult Courses

Enrol now on an adult course starting soon

It's never too late to follow a new career path and it's always a great idea to gain new skills. It allows you to take hold of your future as you gain knowledge and qualifications in a subject that you are passionate about or one that you believe will get you where you want to be. Study in the day or evening, full-time or part-time.

The College offers a wide range of adult courses in art and design, engineering, computing, health care, child care, sport and exercise and more. We offer courses and qualifications from beginner level to Level 6.

According to the 2016 Ofsted Report on Adult Learning at RuTC, '... teaching is good and delivered by specialist staff who skillfully relate theory to practical applications in the workplace.' Ofsted, rating our adult provision as Good, also said, 'There is regular assessment of learning with written feedback, which provides clear support to help learners to improve their work. Teachers also provide good individual feedback in lessons.'

Browse our list of adult short courses or check out the larger range of qualifications on the list on this page to find the one that suits you best. Most of our qualifications are nationally recognised. Many adults have come to Richmond upon Thames College to study over the years and have given us great feedback on how engaging, useful and convenient their courses were. Here are a few of the things our most recent students are saying:

'I wanted something completely different from my day to day but this course has opened my eyes to a whole load of possibilities and ways of life' Kirsten Pattie, student on the interior design short course and Senior Strategist at RAPP Agency
'It is quite relaxed and conversational as opposed to being lectured at' Isabel, student on the photography short course and Merchandiser at a leading online retailer
'The teaching here is excellent. They go beyond the point to help you to understand and are really happy to go outside work hours to help you' Nimi Virdea, student on the accounting course and former auditor
'I knew design was where my passion lay. This course helped give me self-confidence and let me experiment a lot' Monika Bninski, student on the art foundation course
'Everyone's here for the right reasons. Anytime you're partnered with someone they're motivated and don't hold you back' Daniel Bishop, student on the fitness instructing course and former construction worker
'This course is a very good start to get a good understanding of the basics' Matt Clark, student on the AutoCAD course and Project Manager at Harlequins

ELC funding is only available for pursuit of higher level learning ie for courses that result in a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or above on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) (England and Wales), a Level 6 or above on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) or, if pursued overseas, an approved international equivalent qualification.
