This Level 2 qualification provides learners with a range of knowledge and skills to help prepare them for employment in the construction industry or to further learning.
Learners will develop an understanding of health and safety along with knowledge, skills and behaviours of a carpenter and joiner as stated in the Skills England (was IfATE) Occupational Standard.
The course will provide learners opportunities to participate in a range of enrichment activities including employer engagement and educational visits developed to further broaden their knowledge of the sector.
The course is delivered in purpose-built workshops and classrooms designed to maximise skills development.
This qualification is vocationally based and as such, offers the opportunity for learners to demonstrate an achievement of practical skills, understanding and knowledge in carpentry and joinery.

Entry requirements
Level 1 carpentry and Maths and English at GCSE Grade 4 plus a satisfactory interview.

Who is the course for?
This Level 2 qualification is for learners aged 16 and above who want to continue their education and develop their knowledge/competencies and understanding of their role in site carpentry.

The qualification is delivered through practical workshop activities supported with traditional classroom-based technology delivery.

The qualification consists of a combination of externally set and internally assessed assessments and mandatory externally set and externally assessed units.

The course is taught by carpentry specialists who have worked in industry.
It is a full-time course and students are provided with timetabled lecturers and practical work.
Excellent attendance, punctuality and behaviour is important in the workshop and to successfully achieve this qualification.
During the course students are required to participate in work experience and the college supports this with local site visits and speakers in industry. -
