Foundation Learning & Skills for Life

In this programme learners will explore a range of job roles and work environments while building confidence, independence, and self awareness.

Through practical experience, including supporting the running of a college café, learners develop customer service, teamwork, and health and safety skills.

The programme helps learners identify their strengths and areas for development, prepare for interviews, and understand employer expectations such as:

  • Punctuality
  • Professional behaviour
  • Workplace responsibilities.
  • Entry requirements

    Learners must have an EHCP and complete a baseline assessment, interview, and provide evidence of working at an appropriate level.

  • Who is the course for?

    This one year course is for students with moderate learning difficulties and disabilities who have a higher level of independence.

    You will need to be motivated with a mature outlook to pass qualifications that will enable you to progress to other courses within Supported Learning, mainstream courses or Project Search.

  • Study methods

    Study methods include: practical, workshops, plus indivudal, paired and small group work.

    The course is assessed by course work and portfolio.

    There may be opportunities to progress onto another course within Supported Learning or vocational courses within the College.
