    5 GCSEs grade 9-4 (grade C and above) which should include English or Maths and core Science. Or a relevant BTEC Level 2 qualification in Applied Science (Merit), together with GCSE English or Maths at grade 9-4 (grade C and above). References may be taken up. If you do not have a grade 9-4 in GCSE English or Maths you may be able to study these alongside your course.

  • Who is the course for?

    This exciting course is suitable for students with a strong interest in a practical approach to biological and chemical sciences.

  • Study methods

    The course involves taught lessons, practical classes, portfolio building sessions, exams and workshops. Students are expected to work on their coursework outside their timetabled classes.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Principals and application 1 and 2, contemporary issues of science and science investigation skills are all assessed through external examination. The other units are assessed through coursework.

    This course includes a number of enrichment opportunities including trips to the Wellcome Trust, NPL (National Physical Laboratory), London Zoo and Kew Gardens, along with masterclasses and visits from universities.
