As part of this course the learner will have access to a wide range of fabrics, sewing machines, mannequins, as well as experienced teachers in Fashion, Business and Retail.
There will be the opportunity to have work experience in retail fashion, visits to fashion museums and guest speakers from the industry.
There will be the opportunity to create a business plan and fashion collection to be sold to the public plus potential to exhibit work in a public gallery. You will also have the chance to be entered into national competitions and to have a Christmas fashion show, showcasing students work. Outstanding submission will be put in for the UAL Origins Exhibition where your work will be exhibited in central London, if chosen by a UAL panel.

Entry requirements
Students need to have a minimum of 4 x GCSE’s at grade 4/C or above or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. This includes English, Maths and a creative subject such as textiles, art and design or a strong related portfolio.

Who is the course for?
This course is for students who have an interest in fashion business and retail and who wish to explore and extend this interest.

Study methods
The course will be held in art studios, working with live briefs and working through formative assignments, culminating in the final major project.

The course is assessed through internal and external assessment of this portfolio based qualification.

This course is 4 days a week. This includes enrichment, tutoring and English and Maths top-up relating to the industry specialism.
Students will have the opportunity to be entered into the Woolmark competition and also inter-college competitions in the sector. -

Where Next – Further Studies
This is the first year of a two year programme allowing students to progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion, Business and Retail, or alternatively into retail apprenticeships, or into the fashion retail industry.
