Tutors
You will succeed best if you are happy in your choice of subjects, are well organised and free from worries. Every student will have a tutor who they will be introduced to at the start of the college year. Your tutor will help you in all aspects of your college life and will support you to reach your potential, to help with your future plans and give you support when you need it.
When you first arrive he/she will help you settle into college and guide you through the induction period when you will find out about the layout of the campus and about your timetable.
Your tutor monitors your attendance, punctuality and progress. From then on you see your tutor regularly with the rest of your tutor group. Tutorials are an intrinsic part of College life. They are an important channel of information and give you the opportunity to discuss what is going on in College and help you make informed decisions about your future. You will also have a one-to-one tutorial with your tutor at least once a term to discuss your academic progress and Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
Your tutor will discuss with you the best way to maximise the learning opportunities on offer to you. He/she will oversee all aspects of your course and liaise with your teachers to ensure you are always aware of what is expected of you.
Your tutor will also help you consider what you would like to do when you leave College and will write you a reference when you apply for higher education or employment.
The tutor is also someone who will speak to your parents about your general progress.
