Open Events 2020-21

Open Events are an opportunity for you to find out more about the courses we have available from our curriculum staff, as well as finding out more about life at college from our support staff.

Below are the Open Event dates for academic year 2020-21. We have made the decision to hold our Open Events online. By registering for the event you will receive access to online materials that will provide you with a Virtual Open Event experience and access to Live Q&A sessions with our curriculum staff, which will take place on the dates below.   • How the Virtual Open Event will work

    We understand that 'virtual' and 'online' events are new to a lot of people, including us, so here is a step by step guide that will help you to get an idea of how our Virtual Open Events will work. 

     

    Register for an event

    Click on the date of the event you would like to attend using the buttons above. You will be redirected to Eventbrite, where you will get some more information about the date you have chosen. Click register and enter your details.

    You should receive a confirmation email from us, if you don't, please check your junk/spam/clutter folders. if you still haven't received an email from us, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots.     We will send various reminders to you with more information about the event with further instructions as we get closer to the event itself.

     

    The event

    You will receive an email the day before the event with a link to the Virtual Open Event, which will be hosted on Eventbrite. You will need to login to Eventbrite to gain access to the event page. For further details about how to join an online event with Eventbrite, please click here.

    The event will be in 2 parts:

    1. Information, pictures and videos that you can look through at any time, including interactive Sway presentations that have been created by each curriculum area
    2. Live Q&A sessions with teachers that will take place at the time specified Virtual Open Event time

    The information on the Virtual Open Event page will cover the following:

    1. Watch a welcome video from our Deputy Principal Jason Jones and our Student Union, about what it's like to study at RuTC
    2. Join Live Q&A Sessions with our teaching staff across all course areas, and look at further information about each curriculum area in their individual Sway presentations
    3. See our course results
    4. Watch videos that explore our new college building and a virtual tour of our STEM Centre (which is due for completion in 2022) and see where we are located
    5. Access student support information from Student Services and Inclusive Learning Support
    6. Find out more about our extra curricular opportunities
    7. Take a look at what Covid-19 safety measures we have in place
    8. Apply for a course starting in September 2021

     

    Live Q&A Sessions

    The Live question and answer sessions will take place within each of our curriculum areas and will be hosted by two for more teachers from that area.

    There will be 4 half an hour sessions across the 2 hours and you can attend as many as you like.

    The sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams, the links to these sessions will be available on the Eventbrite page, but we will also send these to you in an email an hour before it starts.

    Teachers will start each session with a short presentation, after which you will have the opportunity to ask questions. You can ask questions via the chat function in Teams, and in some instances you will be able to ask questions via your microphone (this will depend on how many people are in your sessions and the teacher).
