Our Skills for Vocational Studies is one year full time Level 1 course starting in September.
Skills for Vocational Studies Level 1 provides an opportunity to achieve an OCNLR Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Vocational Studies and is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to progress onto a Level 2 vocational qualification.
The course is an ideal starting point that provided you with transferable study and organisational skills in order to progress to the next level. You will study elements from Business, Digital (IT) and Health and Social Care. This will provide you with a broad understanding about each subject and will allow you make an informed decision about progressing to your chosen subject area.
In order to complete a full Study Programme, which is required by the Department for Education for 16-19 year old students are not yet at a Level 2 standard, you will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths and will be required to undertake work experience and get involved in various enrichment activities offered at the college.
You do not need to have GCSEs in order to join the course and upon successful completion you will be able to progress to a Level 2 qualification in a range of vocational courses offered at Richmond upon Thames College.

It offers an opportunity to develop essential learning skills along with vocational units from a range of sectors for example Business, Digital and Health and Social Care. This will enable you to develop a firm foundation for successful progression to Level 2 vocational qualifications. You will also study maths and English as part of your study programme.
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification.
On completion of the OCNLR Level 1 Qualifications in Skills for Vocational Studies learners will have the required skills and knowledge in learning and vocational areas to progress to the OCNLR Level 2 Qualifications in Skills for Professions, in a vocational area of their choice, or any other vocational qualification at Level 2.
The qualifications form the first step in a clear progression route through to vocational learning or higher education.
Alternatively, learners may progress to employment in entry level roles.
This course is free for all 16-19 year olds who have no former Level 1 qualification.
