The course will offer you the IT Support skills that employers want, as well the communication skills that are vital to a future in this field. If you do well you will gain an OCR Level 2 Cambridge technical qualification in ICT, consisting of 7 units.
You will learn how to safely build and upgrade a PC, install and configure software, basic networking, IT security and IT Support. In addition you will learn about the IT industry and what opportunities are available.
This is a practical course with a full day being spent in our specialist build room, where you will complete hardware and software build assignments. You will also have theory sessions and IT classes where you will learn the skills needed to support users and to complete written work. This course encourages a 'hands on' approach to training and all the necessary course materials will be provided. You may use the Learning Resource Centre computer suites as additional learning resources.
You will continue to develop Maths and English skills and will study towards IT functional skills in IT at Level 2.
You will complete a bonus 'learn to learn' qualification, developing required study skills.
Successful completion of the course may allow you to progress on to an IT apprenticeship or on to a BTEC IT course.
