AutoCAD Level 3 (Part 1)

This course will teach further skills in 2D computer-aided draughting. It looks at the more advanced features of computer-aided draughting and at the new features of the latest version of Autodesk's AutoCAD. It is designed for those students who have already completed AutoCAD Level 2, or experienced AutoCAD users who would like to benefit more from the features of the latest software.

    The Level 3 topics will include:

    • Further dimensioning
    • More reusable content
    • Blocks and attributes
    • Dynamic blocks
    • Isometric drawing
    • Layer management and best practices
    • Layouts and views
    • Further plotting
    • Template drawing creation
    • Introduction to Sheet Sets
    • New features in the latest version
  • What qualification or experience do I need to start the course?

    In order to start this course, you should be a confident computer user with an understanding of the Windows environment. You will also need to have access to a computer with AutoCAD running on it.

  • How will I be taught?

    Each topic will be introduced, discussed and demonstrated. There will be online material available for each topic, together with hands-on practical exercises. You will be expected to do some work at home  ideally, a minimum of 4 hours each week.

  • How will I be assessed?

    At the end of your student programme, you will be asked to self-assess your own progress and achievement against the expected achievements.

    Those wishing to take the City & Guilds Exam will be expected to complete the sample assignments before the course ends.

  • What qualification will I get?

    Successful candidates will be awarded a Richmond upon Thames College Certificate. Previous students have gone on to pass the City & Guilds Exam at Level 3.

  • What can the course lead to?

    This course will continue to build your confidence with CAD, teaching you skills that will improve your efficiency. It will also give you further insight into some of Autodesk's latest AutoCAD software. AutoCAD is used by 80% of companies working in construction and engineering, internationally. This course is also considered to be an important step towards embarking on drawing in 3D.
