International A-Level student Zak comments that his favourite part of college life was “freedom of expression” - he felt that he could be totally himself at Richmond upon Thames College.
Originally from Lebanon, Zak beams about the support and passion of his teachers, praising his college adventure for making him “fall in love” with learning. In turn, his tutors couldn’t speak highly enough of him, commenting that he was a “fantastic student” and a total pleasure to teach.
Studying English Literature, Film Studies and Media Studies, his grades and contributions in class were incredible, with him working exceptionally hard to stay on his A-game.
Outside of the classroom, Zak was well known around the college for his role as president of the popular Dungeons & Dragons club, noting that he found lifelong friends through this community. He is proud of his success in running the club and encourages new learners to get involved!
“College is nothing like high school”
Zak has his sights set high on a career in the games industry, now studying Games Design and Development at university.
He has also given himself a head start by writing and worldbuilding in his free time, creating plenty of new ideas for a fruitful gaming career.
Zak is inspired by professionals in the gaming field, seeing others’ creativity and success as motivation to help him move into the next stage of his life. He is also very grateful for the support he receives from his family and friends!
He encourages: “First year may be daunting but enjoy it while it lasts, go out and meet new people. College is nothing like high school and there is something for everyone no matter who you are and what you like.”
