Jack Petchey and Student Award winner, Lucy, is well known by her peers and teachers for her hard work and commitment.

Having worked her way through the college’s professional cookery courses, she loved every minute of her time at Richmond upon Thames College, acting as a huge asset to the department.

During her time studying, Lucy was able to overcome great challenges and excel in her chosen subject – no easy feat. Through her tutor’s connections, Lucy completed work experience with celebrity chef, Lawrence Keogh, followed by a job offer at his popular pub in Thames Ditton.

Her words of advice to others are “go for every opportunity that is offered to you – it will hugely benefit you in the future and you will gain valuable experience.”

“Don't overthink it!”

Motivated by her family and close friends, she is driven by happiness in others, is interested in their passions and curious about the world around her.

Lucy plans to gain as much cookery experience as possible over the next few years through work experience, apprenticeships and travel, ending up working in an acclaimed restaurant under top chefs.

Her final inspirational words are: “Have fun and don’t overthink it!”
