Construction and Engineering
As the demand for construction workers and engineers is on the rise, it has never been a better time to train as our next generation of construction and engineering professionals. At Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC), we teach construction trades in plumbing and carpentry and engineering courses in electrical and electronic and mechanical. We also offer construction and built environment and building services engineering.
Building Services Engineering Level 3
The Building Services Engineering course covers the maths and science related to construction and building services and how to design plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems that are efficient and environmentally-friendly.
Construction Crafts
At Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC), we teach construction trades in plumbing and carpentry. What separates us from school is that we teach these subjects from a vocational approach. The majority of teaching is practical and is undertaken in our industry standard workshops, taught by teachers who have worked in the industry they specialise in.
Plumbing Level 1
Imagine your home with no hot and cold water, no toilet or central heating or electric power and lighting. Imagine being at in a supermarket with no refrigeration to keep the food fresh. Many people who work in modern offices also take air conditioning for granted.
Carpentry and Joinery - Bench Level 3
Carpenters are responsible for large areas of the construction and craft industry. Site carpenters are concerned with fixing and installing wooden site structures. They lay joists and hang doors etc. Bench joiners are more concerned with producing wooden products such as windows, doors, fitted cupboards etc which are produced in a workshop.

Facilities
The facilities that are available at college are a hugely important part of our students' education and partly what makes us different to school. We are preparing our students for their future careers and that means training them in a suitable environment with industry standard facilities. We are very proud that we have a new state of the art building that opened in March 2020. Our new STEM Centre (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths), will be be opening in 2022.
Engineering BTEC Level 2
This course will enable you to work towards becoming a technician of the future. This can lead on to level 3 courses in Engineering.
Plumbing Level 2
Plumbing Level 2 Diploma is intended for students who want to gain the skills and knowledge to enter the plumbing industry.
Campus Redevelopment
In March 2020, Richmond upon Thames College opened it's brand new state-of-the-art building. This exciting and innovative new learning environment is located within the grounds of the old college site - adjacent to the A316 in Twickenham and a short walk from Twickenham Station. With Phase One of the new college campus complete, we have started work on Phase Two, for our brand new future technology-focussed STEM Centre (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
