Course Infomation

Richmond upon Thames College has a history of partnering with secondary schools and is keen to foster a relationship with schools whose learners are showing an interest and aptitude for working in the construction industry.

The BTEC Level 2 First Award in Construction and the Built Environment at Richmond upon Thames College is a two year course specifically designed for 14-16 year old learners who are interested in working in the world of construction. The course involves a cohort of 10 learners attending Richmond upon Thames College for one day each week over two years. Upon completion, learners can progress onto a full time study programme or an Apprenticeship.

Currently, Richmond upon Thames College is working in partnership with Turing House School and teaching Year 11 learners who are on track to achieve 100% pass rate. Feedback from the school is very positive and staff have noticed a change in the learners’ behaviour and learning.

Our commitment: Richmond upon Thames College equips learners with the ability and skills to progress onto an appropriate course or apprenticeship in their chosen area within the construction industry. We offer technical and pastoral support, including CV writing, interview techniques and money management. We keep in constant contact with schools, sending regular reports as well as attending school events.

School commitment: We expect you to allow your learners to attend Richmond upon Thames College one day a week and be committed to their chosen pathway. Ideally, a school liaison officer should be present in class during the first term to ensure a smooth transition for learners.
