Actors celebrate LGBT with powerful performance

Wednesday 13 June 2018

Acting students from Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) produced and performed a powerful performance for their end of year show with Bohemia, an adaptation of Jonathan Larson’s award winning musical, Rent, which focuses on themes and topics that have influenced the LGBT community and inspired the students to raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust.

This May, students studying the UAL Performing Arts (Acting) Extended Level 3 Diploma produced and performed the musical, raising over £60 in ticket sales for the Terrence Higgins Trust. This performance came before the start of Pride month, which the college’s LGBT group, SHOUT, will be supporting with both staff and students by attending the annual Pride parade in London on Saturday 7 July.

Mary Cassidy, Performing Arts lecturer said; “Well done to all the second year Performing Arts students for an excellent final show which is a celebration of all their hard work over the past two years. Most students are now heading off to either drama school or university to study drama. Best wishes and good luck to all of the students as they move on to the next stage of their careers."
