Jingle Bell Rock gig raises £480

Thursday 11 December 2014

On Tuesday 9 December, second year BTEC level 3 music students hosted a packed Christmas concert to raise funds for relief and development charity, Tearfund.

A thrilled audience of over 120 people enjoyed a lively set of classic covers and Christmas songs, raising almost five hundred pounds in ticket sales and donations.

The students arranged all aspects of the concert including poster design, ticket sales, interval refreshments, running order and stage management. Performances on the night included songs from student bands, Note for Note, Midlife Crisis, Frequency and The Average Joes, whilst the set list included covers of popular songs including Play that Funky Music, Superstition, Forget You and Mariah Carey's festive classic All I want for Christmas is You.

Hannah Awesome, Community Fundraising Manager at Tearfund, praised the students for "a truly superb night," adding that the charity was "very grateful to the students for using their musical talents to help children at risk."
