Art Students Exhibit Work at ‘Collect and Create’ Exhibition

Friday 7 January 2022

On Wednesday 15 December, Art and Design UAL Foundation Diploma students exhibited the work they have produced over the last term.

The exhibition's theme ‘Collect and Create’ offered students the opportunity to explore agendas and issues important to them. Developing their skills and exploring their specialist art and design area, while reflecting on their personal diversity and range of outlooks.

Melissa Nesbitt, whose work was on display at the exhibition explained what she enjoyed the most about the project: “One of my favourite parts of the project was trying to find the right words for my poetry - it can be really difficult to sum up what you mean, but it felt great when I finally found the right words - it’s really fun when it all comes together.”

Alumni Art and Design students, Sivney Reynos, Amber Gordon and Tenzin Sherap came back to visit the exhibition, showing support for current students and staff.

Sivney explains “I have regularly kept in touch with [my teacher] Caroline since leaving College, she is really supportive and has a genuine interest in how I’ve been getting on. It’s nice coming back to visit, I enjoy supporting other artists and seeing Caroline - this exhibition is great, I’m glad I came!”

Art and Design teacher, Caroline King explained about the exhibition “It is important for the students to be aware of sustainability and aware of the impact art and design can have on the world. They are encouraged to be imaginative and consider what can be used as media to enable them to focus on the spirit of play and imagination.”
