Richmond upon Thames College’s Apprentice, Max Milton has won ‘Apprentice of the Month’ at BECK Interiors.
Max was awarded the win by Production Project Director at BECK Interiors, Stephen Middleton, who manages BECK’s in-house joinery workshop.
Max has been an apprentice at BECK Interiors for two and a half years, with his skills going from strength to strength.
Each month, Stephen Middleton, recognises the achievements and hard work of BECK’s apprentices, with the ‘Apprentice of the Month’ award.
Stephen says, “I’m always looking at timekeeping, discipline and attitude. All these things are important. But in addition to that, Max is now spending some time with our Design Development team learning how to create CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings.”
“Max has really committed himself to this secondment. I’ve seen what he’s doing on the drawing side, and I’m really pleased. Building joinery is one thing but learning how to draw is another skill and he’s really put his all into it.”
Max was delighted to discover he’d been awarded ‘Apprentice of the Month’ explaining; “This is the first time I’ve worked with Design Development. You need to have completed two years in the workshop first because you then have some experience building carcasses and learning joinery skills.”
“I’m really enjoying working with the team. It’s widening my knowledge and my understanding. The apprentices are all learning, so sometimes we pick up a drawing and don’t understand everything that goes into the design of what we are building. Once you fully understand the drawings you’re working from, it gives you much more confidence when it comes to building the pieces.”
“I love working at BECK, it’s a great environment and I really enjoy what I do. I’m happy!”
