Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) Level 3 Scholarship Engineering students' Aiyana Sood, Bryn Acland and Mikey Boncey were thrilled to be invited to join the Computer Aided Design (CAD) department at Subsea 7, on the 8th of November, for a captivating week of work experience.
Students successfully showcased their strong inventor's knowledge and problem-solving skills developed at Richmond upon Thames College in the Level 3 engineering course, making an impression upon the CAD team at Subsea 7.
Subsea 7 is a subsea engineering, construction and services company serving the offshore energy industry.
Students were also able to learn all about Subsea 7’s CAD projects, by using AutoCAD software, producing 2D/3D illustrations, designing storyboards and more.
This experience was fantastic for developing a broader understanding of what is involved working in a real drawing office and engineering environment during the week.
Andy Timpson, Deputy Discipline Manager at Subsea 7 was thoroughly impressed with the students, saying “It was an absolute pleasure to host the students in the CAD Department last week.”
He continues, “It was great to hear more about the course and the work that they have been doing over the last two years. They are a real credit to your college”
Technology and Engineer teacher Ashok Joshi is delighted at the success of the experience, explaining “At RuTC, we value the impact practical work experience can offer students in regard to their education, but this placement went above and beyond what we could’ve expected.”
Ashok affirmed “Subsea 7 have given Aiyana, Mikey and Bryn an invaluable experience which they will carry forward into their careers.”
All participants thoroughly enjoyed their time and Richmond upon Thames College look forward to collaborating with Subsea 7 again in the future.
