Over the last month, our Supported Learning students have been volunteering for SPEAR by packing bags at the Sainsbury’s in Hampton and raised an outstanding £1,044.42. SPEAR is a charity in South West London, supporting people experiencing homelessness across Richmond, Merton, Sutton, Kingston and Wandsworth.
Ewan Mackintosh, Supported Learning teacher at RuTC, said, “The fundraising went very well, the students really engaged with the customers and raised a large amount. Students learnt a lot from the charity workers and had all their questions about homelessness answered when visiting SPEAR’s offices. The charity said it was one of the largest amounts they had ever received from a bag pack fundraiser and were extremely grateful for the students’ help.”
