CEO & Principal of RuTC describes Richmond Entrepreneurs Conference as “inspiring”

Tuesday 7 March 2017

On 23rd February, Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) sponsored the Richmond Entrepreneurs Conference for the second year running.

This conference provides an opportunity for a variety of local businesses to network and discuss the exciting things happening within the Borough and sponsoring the conference enabled the college to support the Chamber in continuing to connect local businesses.

Commenting on the Richmond Entrepreneurs Conference, Robin Ghurbhurun, CEO & Principal for Richmond upon Thames College, says that “it was an honour to be part of such a fantastic event for the second year running and to see so many people come together to celebrate the success of our Borough.”

He continues by saying “it was inspiring for both the staff and students in attendance to network with the many local businesses that continue to achieve so much” and feels “it is important to be part of the Chamber in order to assist the continued support for the local business community.”

A selection of students from RuTC attended the Richmond Entrepreneurs Conference to hear the inspiring stories from successful local entrepreneurs and find out about how current affairs are affecting their business. The students had the chance to attend seminars that discussed key business lessons and provided advice for their future careers.

A key topic of discussion at the conference was Apprenticeships and the importance of their role in shaping the future for both young people and businesses in the Richmond Borough.

Eileen O’Gara, Head of Employer Engagement at Richmond upon Thames College, believes that “Apprenticeships provide a number of benefits for both the employer and Apprentice” and feels it “was a great opportunity to meet with local businesses and discuss how we can help them with their search for an Apprentice in the future.”

Being a sponsor of the conference allowed the college to demonstrate what it is doing to give back to the local business community, with a particular focus on an informative Apprenticeships Levy Breakfast event on Tuesday 28th March where we are inviting businesses to come along to find out more about the new legislation on Apprenticeships funding. The event will feature a presentation on The New Apprenticeship Levy and What it Means for your Business by Phillip Jefferies, ECITB Head of Skills Strategy- EDP and South England.
