Women’s Football Week is a national campaign organised by the Football Association, running from 10th – 16th October aiming to raise participation at higher and further education establishments. The students who embraced the activity at RuTC were presented with a certificate, sports bag, magazine and healthy snacks to further encourage their passion for the sport. Football is now the largest female team sport in England with more than 5,900 female teams playing for affiliated clubs.
Mark Brough, Sports Development and Facilities Manager at RuTC commented, “it’s great to see our students getting involved in new sporting activities. We’ve been organising lots of sessions in other sports too, such as rugby, to further increase female participation and broaden the student perspective of who should do which sports. We are an all-inclusive college and are delighted to see a diverse range of students engaging with sports at all levels.”
