On Wednesday 5 June, Richmond upon Thames College celebrated Vocational Qualifications (VQ) Day. Students from courses including media, art & design, engineering, catering and construction were featured in a colourful 'we love VQs' campaign that showcased why they enjoyed studying their vocational courses.
Three talented media students from Richmond upon Thames College have picked up prizes at the inaugural Twickenham Alive Film Festival. Isaac Whittingham, Dias Mussirov and Ben Elgar successfully submitted short films to the festival which attracted entries from as far as Japan, Brazil, the USA, India, Portugal and Italy.
Catering students from Richmond upon Thames College received a bronze medal and two merits at Wessex Salon Culinaire 2013 last month. Hosted by Brockenhurst College in Hampshire in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs, Salon Culinaire is the largest culinary competition of the year and attracts over 700 competitors from colleges and hotels across the UK.
On Wednesday 24 April, seventy universities from across the UK attended a Higher Education Fair organised by Richmond upon Thames College. The fair, arranged by the College's specialist careers staff, gave RuTC students the chance to talk directly to the visiting Universities about the degree courses on offer, and also provided essential information to help with their future career paths.
Eight students from the College have successfully secured conditional offers for this year's intake at the prestigious University of Cambridge.

Richmond upon Thames College Performing Arts student, Jeniequa Quamina is one step closer to stardom after reaching the west London finals of a national talent competition. The talented songstress, also known as 'Jenkelie', will be appearing in the late teens category of TeenStar, a nationwide search for the UK's best singers, songwriters and vocalists.
To celebrate National Science & Engineering Week 2013 (15-24 March), students took part in live demonstrations and field trips to embrace the event's 'invention and discovery' theme.
On 19 March, product design students invited guests to their state of the art workshop, demonstrating how inventions can become reality by showcasing the variety of products they designed during their first year.
The Latvian Ambassador to the UK, Eduards Stiprais, visited Richmond upon Thames College in March to open an exhibition on the history of Latvia. The exhibition, titled Latvia Returns to Europe, was donated to the college for two weeks by the Latvian National Council in Great Britain and showed the country's push for freedom and independence after WW1.
