A mural once found in Twickenham's historic Eel Pie Island Hotel has been recreated by Richmond upon Thames College art student, Sarah Blackwell, for an exhibition celebrating the island's unique place in music history.

The College hosted its annual Awards Evening on Thursday 12 September at Clarendon Hall, York House in Twickenham. The evening celebrated the successes and achievements of some of the College's outstanding students over the past 12 months.

A level results at Richmond upon Thames College were a cause for great celebration for both students and staff. Principal David Ansell was understandably pleased with the results praising both the hard work and talent of the students and the commitment and expertise of the staff.

New sports massage course

An exciting new sports massage course at Richmond upon Thames College is to be taught by the former masseuse to a host of well-known celebrities including singing superstar, Usher and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell. Karen Smith, a successful personal fitness trainer, will begin teaching the new Sports Massage (Soft Tissue Therapy) Level 3 Certificate with her colleague Una Smith in September.

For the eighth year running, Richmond upon Thames College has delivered impressive results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma, a pattern it has maintained since introducing the course in 2004. During that period the College has consistently been recognised as a leading provider in the state sector.

Spanish trip to Madrid

From 24 to 29 June, AS level and International Baccalaureate Diploma Spanish students visited Madrid for a study week. The trip included visits to the Museo del Prado, Museo Reina Sofia and the Museum of Bullfighting. Day excursions also saw the students visit Toledo and Alcalá de Henares.

Language students visited Paris between 24-28 June as part of an educational study week arranged by their teachers. The A2 level and International Baccalaureate Diploma French students immersed themselves in French culture by visiting the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Panthéon and La Conciergerie.
