You will study and learn a range of units covering a basic knowledge of the Travel and Tourism industry including world geography, UK geography, Customer Services, Tour Operations and Travel Agent procedures and practices.
Travel and Tourism Level 1
On this course, you will gain an insight into working in the travel and tourism industry. It provides you with the background knowledge of jobs and employment opportunities within the industry as well as learning about the operations of tour operators and travel agents.
You will also study basic world and UK geography and learn how to prepare and present information about individual resorts, how to research and sell holidays to customers and how to meet customer service standards.
This course is studied alongside the Certificate in Introduction to the Aviation Industry and on successful completion you will be able to progress to a Level 2 course in Travel and Tourism.

The course is assessed mainly through written tasks, role plays and simple presentations. There are two multiple choice open book online examinations

What skills will I need for the course?
You will need an interest in the travel and tourism industry.

What formal entry requirements will I need?
No formal qualifications are required. You will need an assessment and interview and must be motivated, committed and have a positive attitude. The course is designed for school leavers who are able to work at a level equivalent to GCSE grades 4-2/D-F.

What are my progression options?
This course leads on to the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism. The level 1 qualification itself would contribute toward employability in the industry.

Are there any costs involved?
The cost of compulsory trips will be £100, payable upon enrolment. Students may be eligible for bursary funding to cover compulsory trip costs.
