Performing Arts (Dance) Level 2

On our Performing and Production Arts (Dance) UAL Level 2 course, you will study contemporary dance, jazz, ballet, choreography, improvisation and dance theory. You will take part in multiple staged shows, performing different choreographic pieces as well as showcasing your own choreography.

 

You will have the opportunity to take part in workshops led by artists in the industry, and attend dance performances and events like MOVE IT.

 

You will be supported in deciding your future steps in higher education or in the vocation, and have regular 1-1 sessions with your teachers, when your progress and goals will be discussed.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Units 1–7 of the Level 3 Diploma in Performing & Production Arts will be assessed and internally verified through students’ portfolios of evidence and are subject to UAL Awarding Body’s external quality assurance.



    Unit 8, the final unit of the Level 3 Diploma in Performing & Production will be internally assessed, internally and externally moderated against the assessment and grading criteria for this unit.



    To achieve a Pass in any unit all assessment criteria must be met. Additionally, Units 8 is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.



    To achieve a Merit or Distinction, all grade criteria in the respective categories must be met in full. Failure to meet assessment criteria will lead to referral. Students are allowed one opportunity to redeem a referral.

  • What skills will I need for the course?

     Previous dance experience is required, however, formal training is not essential. Your skills will be assessed at the audition, so if you have drive and passion and a desire to develop your dance technique then we want to hear from you!

  • What formal entry requirements will I need?

     Minimum requirements - 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C/9-4 including English and Dance at grade 4 (GCSE dance is not essential, however, previous dance experience is required).


     

    OR
Level 2 Diploma at Distinction/Merit plus GCSE English at grade 4.



     

    You will be invited to attend an interview and audition.

  • What could the course lead to in higher education or careers?

     After completing this course you can progress to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Peforming Arts (Dance).

  • Are there any costs involved?

     £100 studio fee for each year of the course.
The fee will be used towards visits to the theatre, professional workshops and costumes for our productions.
