Students study retakes in GCSE English and maths, alongside GCSE courses in sociology, citizenship and film studies. Overall on the programme, you will learn to develop your skills of analysis, spoken and written expression and build up your confidence with sessions on exam technique and progression routes at the College following your retakes.
Studying GCSE Sociology enables you to consider the world from different perspective and in thought-provoking ways. You will look at structures, processes and issues that exist in society today, as well as the research techniques used by sociologist to investigate contemporary trends. Citizenship Studies involves learning about democracy, government and law. On the course you will develop the skills to make sustained and reasoned arguments, as well as how to consider different points of view and plan practical citizenship actions to benefit society.
Film Studies is a contemporary and creative subject which encourages you to develop your analytical, research and communication skills through exploring a range of films and theoretical perspectives.
