Engineering Design & Draughtsperson Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3

The course consists of a 42-month apprenticeship as outlined below:

 

Year 1: Off the job training (39 weeks + 1 week in workplace)
BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Engineering You will study a variety of engineering design applications along with practical workshop experience that will prepare you for a technician role within the industry and preparation for end point assessment.

 

Year 2: On the job training (12 months) ECITB Diploma in Engineering Construction Design and Draughting
Preparation for end point assessment.

 

Year 3: On the job training (12 months) ECITB Diploma in Engineering Construction Design and Draughting
Preparation for end point assessment.

 

End Point Assessment (6 months)

  • What is expected from me at this level?

    You will be a highly motivated student with a keen interest in designing engineering projects.

  • What qualification or experience do I need to start the course?

    You will be employed by an engineering company and have achieved 5 GCSE’s A-C which must include Science, English and Mathematics (higher tier).

  • What experience would help me be suitable for the course?

    A keen interest in engineering design, experience of using AutoCAD would be beneficial.

  • How will I be taught?

    A variety of teaching methods / strategies will be used depending on the unit / practical skills delivered.

  • How will I be assessed?

    A variety of assessments strategies will be employed depending on the unit / practical skills undertaken. This will consist of all /some of the following: Lectures, reports, practical workshop exercises, presentations, fieldwork, group project work, laboratory experiments, and assignment essays, external tests/exams and end point assessment.

  • What qualification will I get?

    On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be awarded Apprenticeship in Engineering Design and Draughtsperson.

  • What skills will I gain as a result of doing this course?

    Appropriate level of Design & Draughting skills training and experience that provides the learner with opportunities to progress in the engineering industry.

  • What can the course lead to?

    Higher Apprenticeship / degree
