Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship

The course consists of 42-month apprenticeship as outlined below: After a period of foundation skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications: Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge) After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) - Machining Level 3 Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)

    How long is the course? 36 months

  • What is the course about and how might it benefit me?

    This is a two year apprenticeship programme consisting of:

    On the job training 4 days a week:

    • EAL Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering

     

    Off the job training 1 day a week including:

    • BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Engineering. The qualification covers the advanced knowledge and understanding of principals, methods and technology involved in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Employee Rights and responsibilities.
    • Personal Learning Thinking Skills.
    • Functional Skills in English and Mathematics
  • Are there any materials or resources that I need to bring to the college sessions?

    Please make sure you are equipped with basic stationary for all your lessons. Any specialist materials and equipment for workshop sessions will be included.

  • What is expected of me at this level?

    This qualification is for students working towards an engineering manufacturing apprenticeship at level 3 and you will need to be a highly motivated student with a keen interest in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.

  • What qualifications or experience do I need to start the course?

    You will be employed by an engineering company and have 5 GCSEs including English and Mathsat grade 5 and Science at grade C.

  • What experience would help me be suitable for the course?
    • A keen interest in mnaufacturing engineering
    • A proven ability of having good attendance and meeting deadlines
  • How will I be taught?

    You will be taught using a wide variety of teaching methods covering both practical experience and the theory behind Mechanical Manufacturing in the classroom, workshops and workplace.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed according to the requirements of the unit you are working on, however this could include:

    • Observation in the workplace
    • Portfolio evidence
    • Group work
    • Practical workshop activities
    • Group and independent presentations
    • Assignments, essays and homework
  • What qualification will I get?

    On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be awarded the following: Machinist – Advanced Manufacturing Engineering apprenticeship.

  • What skills will I gain as a result of doing the course?
    • Develop skills and competencies relating to your employee role.
    • Develop a greater understanding of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering specialist silks and knowledge.
    • Gain a recognised qualification to support further learning and greater responsibility in the workplace.

    • Higher apprenticeship
    • HNC
    • Degree
    • Job roles which could include mechanical engineer, production engineering, mechanical engineering technician, manufacturing production planner, machinist.
