Early Years Educator (Workforce) Diploma Level 3

The qualification prepares you for becoming an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with children from birth to five years old.

 

The course is arranged around the following themes:

  • Health and well-being
  • Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
  • Play, development and learning for school
  • Professional development

You will need to complete repeated observational studies to observe, assess and plan for children's needs.

 

You will need to attend classes and engage in independent study each week in order to achieve this qualification.

  • What qualification or experience do I need to start the course?

    You will need to be working in a child care setting for a minimum of 350 hours covering the following age ranges:

    • 0 – 1 year 11 months - 25 hours
    • 2 – 2 years 11 months - 133 hours
    • 3 – 5 years - 192 hours

    You will also need to have acheived English and maths GCSE at grade C or above.

  • How will I be taught?

    The course includes 2 hours classroom-based teaching per week and you will be required to spend at least 2 hours per week on independent study and set tasks. You will also gain experience in your child care setting.

  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be allocated an assessor who will observe you in your workplace setting. You will also complete a series of set tasks and a longitudinal study, and will need to pass all 23 mandatory units.

  • What qualification will I get?

    Successful students will receive the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) CACHE level 3 diploma.

  • What can the course lead to?

    With suitable child care experience you could progress on to the Early Years Foundation Degree FdA or work as a practitioner in a nursery school, reception class, children's centre or pre-school.
