Plumbing Level 2

The Plumbing Level 2 qualification is intended for students who want to gain the skills and knowledge to enter the plumbing industry. After successful completion of the Level 2 qualification, students may be able to progress to a Plumbing Level 3 course.

  • What will I study and learn?

    Level 2 consists of a basic understanding of plumbing techniques and principles. Practical sessions will be taught in full equipped workshops and theory sessions in classrooms.

    Level 2 is made up of 10 mandatory units:

    • Health and safety in building services engineering
    • Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
    • Scientific principles in plumbing
    • Common plumbing processes
    • Cold water systems
    • Domestic hot water systems
    • Sanitation
    • Central heating systems
    • Drainage systems
    • Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering
  • How is the course assessed?

    The course is assessed on an on-going basis through assignments, online multiple choice tests and portfolio and practical assignments.

  • What skills will I need for the course?

    This course is suitable for people who wish to work in a practical occupation. Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail and required. Being a good team player and able to learn technical subjects are also needed.

  • What formal entry requirements will I need?

    Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing AND GCSE English and Maths at grade 4.

  • What are my progression options?

    At the end of this course students can apply to become an apprentice or go on to a level 3 qualification in plumbing.

  • Are there any costs involved?

    All students will have to provide appropriate personal protective equipment (flame retardant overalls and safety boots) at approximately £70. You will also need to buy a calculator and memory stick. A textbook is also required at an approximate cost of £30.
