Computing HNC Level 4

The Level 4 BTEC Higher National Certificate in Computing is a specialist technical programme with a strong work- related emphasis. The course covers essential topics in the field of computing including computer programming, database design, networking, security, website design and project management.

 

The qualification is widely recognised and is an essential qualification for promotion in many organisations. For students who intend to proceed to university, the HNC provides a very sound technical foundation and a valuable introduction to the type of study skills necessary for higher level courses.

  • What qualification or experience do I need to start the course?

    Formal entry requirements my include:

    · BTEC Subsidiary/Extended Diploma Level 3 in IT
    · AS/A2 levels in computing and IT and mathematics at grade D or above
    · Advanced Apprenticeship in IT
    · A level 3 qualification(s) with a keen interest in IT

  • How will I be taught?

    You will be taught in our specialist classroom with access to a range of computer systems and networking devices. You will need to dedicate several hours outside of the classroom to research and completion of assessments.

  • How will I be assessed?

    Assessment is by a series of assignments and practical projects.

  • What qualification will I get?

    If successful, you will receive the HNC in Computing.

  • What can the course lead to?

    The course is suitable for those who aspire to work in the IT industry in a wide range of capacities. It will also prepare you for higher level study. For those already employed in IT the course will open opportunities to move in to managerial positions.
