Creative

This one-year course is ideal for those interested in a future career within Creative and Digital Media. The OCN Access to HE courses at RuTC is designed specifically to meet the needs of adult learners in preparation for progression to higher education. This is a practical studio and online based course which will provide a thorough grounding in the fundamental principles of most digital media practices. You will have support to create a showreel and body of work for application to higher education and Media industry employment, with specialist assignment options.

Specialist pathways include, but are not limited to: -

Propaganda in Art and Design – a series of lectures, delivered in line with study skills units to support your entry into HE.

Individual Project – Self-directed project outcome of your choosing for final show at the end of the year.

Digital Editing for Moving Image, Digital Sound and Image Capture & Digital Visual Effects – learn to develop your skills in specialist industry software.

Video Making & Photography Practice Project – Develop your skills in the practical use of specialist recording and stills work in the TV/Film and Photographic studio as well as on location off site.

2D Animation – Skills development in 2D animation, both practical and digitally creative.

Your study programme will develop your practical skills and creative thinking through a process of contextual research, discussion, exploration and experimentation, problem solving, review and analysis. This is an intense course with integrated academic skills to prepare you for higher education study including reading and understanding texts, note taking and essay writing.

You will receive tutorial support in the development of your personal work, showreel and website production and in the HE application process including UCAS. There is a studio fee of £100 a year to pay upon enrolment that will help to subsidise the cost of the range of practical resources and trips that you will have available to use during the year.
