The Corporation Board is the college's governing body. It comprises 18 volunteer members from a range of backgrounds reflecting the community the College serves. Members bring a broad range of expertise and experience to the work of the Board.
The role of the Corporation is in agreeing the strategic direction of the College, setting objectives and monitoring results. The responsibilities can be summarised as:
- Determining the educational character and mission of the College and the oversight of its activities
- Approving the quality strategy of the College
- The effective and efficient use of resources
- Approving annual estimates of income and expenditure
- The appointment of senior postholders
- Setting a framework for the pay and conditions of service of all other staff
The Corporation has developed a committee structure to assist the Board in carrying out its work. For committee terms of reference and the minutes of committee meetings, please refer to the relevant committee page.
The Corporation conducts its business in accordance with English and relevant European law and within the Instrument and Articles of Government. It also observes regulations and Codes of Practices issued by the Funding Body and acts within the spirit of Standards in Public Life published by the Nolan Committee and in the report Personal Liability in Public Service Organisations published by the Neill Committee. Agendas, minutes and other papers relating to the meetings of the Corporation and its committees are normally available for public inspection by application to the Clerk to the Corporation.
